2027 Public Holidays in Catalonia
National and regional public holidays for 2027 in Catalonia, with the date and day of the week of each one, from the BOE.
Quick answer
- •There are 12 public holidays in Catalonia in 2027. That is the 9 that apply across Spain, plus 29 March (Easter Monday), 24 June (St John's Day) and 11 September (La Diada, National Day of Catalonia).
- •On top of these, each municipality sets up to 2 local holidays of its own.
- •That leaves 252 working days (Monday to Friday), or 250 if both local holidays fall on weekdays.
- •Bridge days: Friday 25 June, Monday 11 October and Tuesday 7 December.

Holidays on a weekend
In Catalonia, 1 May (Labour Day), 11 September (La Diada, National Day of Catalonia) and 25 December (Christmas Day) fall on a Saturday. If you work Monday to Friday, you lose those holidays unless your employer gives you the days back. In several collective disputes in 2026, Spain's National High Court (Audiencia Nacional) recognised the right to a day off in lieu in this situation. The rulings can still be appealed and the Supreme Court has yet to settle the issue. We cover this in whether you get a day back when a holiday falls on a Saturday.
Assumption Day (15 August) falls on a Sunday and Monday 16 is not a holiday, because a different holiday is taken instead.
26 December, St Stephen's Day, falls on a Sunday in 2027, so it is not on the BOE list of public holidays.
Bridge days
Friday 25 June, Monday 11 October and Tuesday 7 December are working days sandwiched between two days off (bridge days, or puentes). If your company decides to give staff those days off, put them in the work calendar from the start.
Local holidays
Every municipality in Catalonia also has up to 2 local holidays, set by its town council. They are not in the BOE (Spain's Official State Gazette) but in the regional or provincial official gazette, usually published in the last few months of the previous year. Add the ones for the municipality where each workplace is based, not where the company is registered.
Working days and hours in 2027
Start from the 252 working days in Catalonia in 2027, then take off the 2 local holidays, if they fall on weekdays, and about 22 days of annual leave (the 30 calendar days in Article 38 of Spain's Workers' Statute usually work out at 22 working days). That leaves 228 working days.
On a full-time 40-hour week of five 8-hour days, that comes to 1,824 hours a year. Compare this with the annual hours set in your collective agreement (convenio colectivo). If your total is higher, you will need to give extra days off or shorten the working day to make up the difference.
Your work calendar, loaded and applied for you
Cleverfy loads the national, regional and local holidays for each calendar's municipality and applies them to schedules, time tracking and annual leave at the workplaces you assign it to. If you have workplaces in several regions, each one gets its own calendar.
